Surf The Storm is the largest Surf School (and kayakying plus paddleboarding) on the Pacific with full time schools in California, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand plus a part time school in Fiji.

The Challenge

An expensive rebrand and name change over 10 years ago left the business with an complex and messy website with patchy search presence. Logical Campaign was asked to create a new website and then start an extensive SEO campaign.

The website was rebuilt and drastically reduced in size to make it far simpler to navigate both for users and search engines. Over 100 pages of dead content were archived and ultimately moved to external (supporting) sites. Once the new site was launched the technical and content teams started work on the campaign by identifying key focal points on the site that required optimization and SEO copy writing. Following an initial onsite optimization process, the team continued to improve topic authority on the site and implement UX tweaks to reduce bounce rate. This work was coupled with ongoing link building from high authority domains.

 

THE RESULTS

12 months after the start date, traffic from search had more than doubled, increasing by 126%. But it was in the second year of the campaign that the business really reaped the full rewards of our optimization work. By the 24th month, traffic from search had increased by 261% since the start of the campaign. The increases in organic traffic were in part due to the improved visibility our team was able to achieve through combined onsite optimization and selective link building.
